In every Raymond shoreland district, clearing vegetation (other than timber harvesting) needs a permit from the Code Enforcement Officer, and the town's permit form asks you to label each tree you want cut.

Within 100 feet of the water, the rules keep most of the woods standing:

No opening in the tree canopy over 250 square feet.
No more than 40% of the tree volume removed in any ten years.
Ground cover under three feet tall stays.
