Our remote-controlled mulcher tackles terrain and hazards that traditional manned equipment simply cannot handle safely.
Most forestry mulching companies operate a single type of machine: a skid steer or track loader with a mulching head. While effective on flat, accessible terrain, these machines have significant limitations on steep slopes, in tight spaces, and around hazardous vegetation. Our remote-controlled mulcher eliminates these limitations entirely.
Traditional manned mulchers become dangerous on slopes exceeding 25-30 degrees. Rollover risk increases dramatically, and most operators refuse to work steep terrain. Our RC mulcher operates safely on slopes up to 50+ degrees because there is no operator inside the machine. If the machine tips, no one gets hurt.
When a traditional mulcher grinds poison ivy, urushiol oil becomes airborne in the dust and debris. Operators in open or semi-enclosed cabs risk severe allergic reactions, including respiratory distress from inhaling urushiol particles. Our RC mulcher eliminates this risk entirely because the operator stands 100+ feet away with a handheld controller.
Pro Tip: Burning poison ivy is extremely dangerous because urushiol becomes airborne in smoke. Forestry mulching with an RC unit is the safest mechanical removal method available.
The RC mulcher's compact footprint allows it to work in spaces too tight for full-size equipment. Narrow lot lines, between structures, along fence lines, and in backyards with limited access are all accessible. The machine can be transported through standard gate openings.
Taylor Forestry Mulching operates both a full-size CAT 299D3 track loader with mulching head and the remote-controlled unit. This two-machine approach means we match the right equipment to your specific job. Flat, open acreage gets the high-production CAT. Steep, hazardous, or tight areas get the RC mulcher. Many projects use both machines for maximum efficiency.
Remote-controlled operation eliminates the most common causes of forestry mulching injuries: rollovers on slopes, struck-by incidents from falling trees, and exposure to hazardous plants. This translates to lower insurance costs, which we pass along as competitive pricing to our customers.
The remote-controlled mulcher is not a gimmick. It is a purpose-built tool that solves real problems traditional equipment cannot address safely. If your property has steep slopes, poison ivy, tight access, or other challenges that other companies have declined, call Taylor Forestry Mulching. Our two-machine approach means we have the right tool for every situation.
The operator uses a handheld radio controller with joysticks and switches, similar to heavy-duty RC equipment used in demolition and mining. The operator maintains line-of-sight with the machine at all times, typically standing 50-150 feet away. The controller provides precise speed, direction, and mulching head control.
The RC mulcher is designed for slopes, hazards, and tight spaces rather than maximum production speed. For large, flat acreage, our full-size CAT 299D3 is faster. For difficult terrain, the RC mulcher handles vegetation that the CAT cannot safely reach. Many projects use both machines.
Our RC mulcher handles trees up to 6 inches in diameter in a single pass. Larger trees can be felled first and then mulched. For most understory clearing, brush removal, and invasive species work, the vast majority of vegetation is well within the machine's capacity.
